Our roots…

The gals from Rooted, Co-Founders Heidi Templin & Darcy Denney have been in the kitchen since they were little girls. Sisters, friends & now plant-based pushers! Working to educate anyone who is ready to learn more about plants and ways to incorporate them into their meals. Inspiring others to eat more mindfully and spreading awareness within their community. They believe by understanding the effects of the food we put into our bodies we can improve our health, boost our energy levels, enhance our moods and facilitate a better quality of life!  

Co-Founder/Owner Heidi Templin is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in cardiology, Certified in plant-based cooking and nutrition. Heidi started her medical career in 2000 when she became a registered nurse. She worked for many years in cardiology and decided to further her education in 2010. She obtained her masters degree in nursing and became a  Nurse Practitioner in 2012. She continued her career in cardiology which is where she experienced first hand how diet and activity can directly impact your overall health. She has been eating a plant-based diet since 2009 and wanted to share the benefits with her patients. She has always been passionate about preventative medicine and enjoys seeing her patients strive toward minimizing their risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease to name a few. She is now looking to bring her knowledge to the community, helping them understand the correlation between diet, exercise and chronic diseases. 

Co-Founder/Owner Darcy Denney is a Registered Yoga Teacher(RYT 500), SUP Yoga Certified, Yin Certified and Certified in plant-based cooking and nutrition. Darcy shifted her focus to wellness back in 2009 when she first stepped on her mat, from there she began her first Yoga Teacher Training in 2012. She started teaching yoga in 2013 and continues to educate herself on the mind body connection. In 2016 she turned to a plant-based diet and began to feel the effects it had on her overall being. Soon after she began digging into the relationship between the mind, body AND the gut. She is looking to help her students not only connect back to themselves through movement but also now to educate them, as well as the community, on the benefits of eating with purpose. 

Once both sisters moved to the same small town they began to conspire and dream up their biggest dreams yet…to one day own and operate a fully plant-based cafe locally in the Pines. A cafe where you can freely order off the menu without all the pesky questions and modifications. From there Rooted was born, a plant-based cafe where you can eat, drink and enlighten yourself on a more mindful way of eating! The cafe is set to open later this year.

Kenzie Bhola

We are excited to announce the addition of our new partner and co-owner Mackenzie Bhola! Mackenzie will bring to our team not only her passion for vegan cooking but extensive experience in the restaurant industry. From small cafes to chain restaurants, she contributes her great work ethic today to her lessons and knowledge over the years in the business. Certified in Reiki and Sound Healing, she is passionate about holistic healing. Mackenzie is currently a small business owner in South Florida, and is excited to join the Rooted team to help continue bringing plant-based eating to the community.

Jeff Dorber joins us with not only restaurant experience to lead our kitchen but he is also an amazing drummer, songwriter and makes a mean pizza, amongst many other things! His passion for plant-based eating is rooted in animal activism! If he’s not banging on the drums or cookin’ up an amazing meal, you can find him with his growing animal fam! We are beyond grateful for Chef Jeff and everything he brings to the team!
